About

離婚伝説 (Rikon Densetsu)

Overview

離婚伝説 (Rikon Densetsu) is a Japanese male duo that began activities in 2022 and made its major-label debut in 2024. Their music is categorized as J-pop and city pop. The band name is taken from the Japanese title of Marvin Gaye's 1978 album Here, My Dear. They self-produce everything, including their music, visuals and styling.

Members

  • Ayumu Matsuda (松田歩): vocals. Born on August 19, from Kagoshima Prefecture. In 2026 he was chosen as a look model for the fashion brand MIKAGE SHIN's Fall/Winter 2026 collection.
  • Jun Beppu (別府純): guitar. Born on May 1, from Saitama Prefecture.

Career

In 2018, Ayumu Matsuda and Jun Beppu met while working part-time at a band karaoke venue where staff play instruments and customers sing. During the downtime of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, they began exchanging simple songs recorded as voice and guitar, and once they had accumulated a number of them, they started full-fledged song production.

The duo formed 離婚伝説 in January 2022 and released their first song, "Ai ga Issou Mellow" (愛が一層メロウ), on June 5 of that year.

On January 18, 2023, they released their first physical work, the limited-quantity EP Ai ga Issou Mellow.

On January 11, 2024, they were selected as one of ten acts for Spotify's "RADAR: Early Noise 2024." Their first album, 離婚伝説, was released on March 20, and won the Blue Award at the 17th CD Shop Awards 2025. On March 23, at their first headline show at Zepp Shinjuku, "Ai ga Issou Mellow -Love is more Mellow-," they announced their major debut through SMEJ. From July 12 to 30 they held their first headline tour, "1st ONEMAN TOUR Nagisa no Rendezvous."

On July 23, 2025, the album 離婚伝説 was reissued by Ariola Japan and peaked at No. 27 on the Oricon weekly albums chart.

Musical Style

Rooted in J-pop and city pop, the duo is distinguished by a fully self-produced approach that extends from the music to the videos and styling. Their name, borrowed from a Marvin Gaye album, hints at an affinity for classic soul music.
