About

Inabakumori (稲葉曇)

Overview

Inabakumori (稲葉曇, Inaba Kumori) is a Japanese musician, Vocaloid producer and songwriter born on February 25, 1995. His best-known works are "Lost Umbrella" (ロストアンブレラ) and "Lagtrain" (ラグトレイン). He is also popular overseas: a version of "Lost Umbrella" with English subtitles has passed 10 million views on YouTube.

Career

As a student he played percussion in his junior high school concert band. Soon after starting high school he stopped attending, and it was then that he discovered Vocaloid. From 2011 to 2014 he produced music under the name MichouP (視長P), also known as Inaba Pukari (因幡プカリ); after abandoning that alias, he published three songs in 2019 that he had created in 2014 and 2015.

He debuted as a Vocaloid producer in 2016 by uploading "Secret Music" (秘密音楽), using Kaai Yuki, to YouTube and Niconico. "Pascal Beats" earned his first Niconico Hall of Fame entry (100,000 plays). After "Lost Umbrella" was released in February 2018 and spread widely on TikTok, his popularity surged. "Lagtrain" (released July 16, 2020) and others followed as hits.

His first album, Anticyclone (アンチサイクロン), was released on November 17, 2019 at THE VOC@LOiD M@STER 45. On October 15, 2021 he took part in Chimera, a collaboration album featuring 12 Vocaloid producers, contributing "Roleless Weapon" with Vocalo-P Neru. His second album, Weather Station (ウェザーステーション), followed on March 23, 2022.

In August 2023, "Relayouter" (リレイアウター) took first place in the TOP100 rankings at The VOCALOID Collection 2023 Summer, and also reached number one on Billboard Japan's Niconico VOCALOID TOP20. On October 6, 2023 he released "Electricity Forecast" (電気予報) as part of "Project VOLTAGE", a crossover between The Pokémon Company and Crypton Future Media. That song and the remix "Journey's Prequels, Journey's Traces (tabitabi Remix) feat. Hatsune Miku" appear on the compilation Project Voltage 18 Types/Songs Collection (November 13, 2024). He also contributed the track "Decogradation" to Nekomata Okayu's album Personya Respect (May 14, 2025).

Other singles include "Kaze Machigusa" (2020); "Rainy Boots", "Loneliness of Spring" and "Hello Marina" (2021); "Kimi ni Kaikisen" (2022); "Float Play" (2023); "Watashi wa Ame" and "I Pace" (2024); "Chōshinen-tai" and "Harunanshoku" (2025); and "Spot Late" (2026).

In 2026, "Lagtrain" passed 100 million views on YouTube, followed by "Lost Umbrella", making him the second Vocaloid producer with multiple songs above 100 million views.

Musical Style and Artistry

His work is associated with Vocaloid, J-pop and anime-related genres. He has spoken of his respect for wowaka, whose influence appears throughout his work; for example, the titles of his first seven songs are linked as a word-chain (shiritori). His early videos featured his own art of Kaai Yuki, and he made his own music videos up to his seventh song, "Utsushi Asobi". From "Lost Umbrella" onward, illustrator Nukunuku Nigirimeshi has handled the artwork, featuring his character Osage-chan.
