Naniwa Danshi is a seven-member Japanese boy band under Starto Entertainment and is managed by Storm Labels. The group officially debuted on November 12, 2021, with their single "Ubu Love" and has since sold over 6 million records in Japan. Their fandom is affectionately known as 'Nanifam'.

Career History

Formation and Early Activities

In September 2018, the members were informed of the group's formation via an email from their manager. They made their first public appearance on October 24 of that year during a Kansai Johnny's Jr. performance. This marked the formation of a new unit within Kansai Johnny's Jr. for the first time in four years.

2021: Official Debut

On July 28, 2021, during a performance at Yokohama Arena on Naniwa Day, it was announced that the group would debut on November 12. This marked the first debut from Johnny's office since 2020 and the first from Kansai Johnny's Jr. since 2014.

2022-Present: Expanding Activities

In 2022, Naniwa Danshi gained popularity by appearing in various TV and radio programs. They made their debut appearance at the NHK Red and White Song Festival in December of the same year, performing "Ubu Love." In 2023, they announced their first Asia tour, with performances scheduled in Taipei, Seoul, and Hong Kong.

Musical Characteristics

Naniwa Danshi primarily operates within the J-POP genre, characterized by their bright and cheerful music style. The group's leader, Kazuya Ohashi, along with other members, often contributes to songwriting and composing.
