Career
Early life
As a child he dreamed of becoming Kamen Rider. He was shy, was bullied at school and struggled to form trusting friendships, but he loved singing and immersed himself in music from his favorite anime and games. His first purchased CD was Porno Graffitti's "Melissa", and he has said he is still influenced by its producer Akimitsu Honma. From 2007 he became interested in the "utattemita" cover videos on NicoNico, including those by future friends Tonari no Sakata, Tomohisa Sako, 96Neko and Shima.
Becoming an utaite and major debut
In high school he joined the baseball team and sang in a friend's band at the school festival. In 2009 he bought an inexpensive Skype microphone and began live streaming; in 2010 he uploaded his first Vocaloid cover and started working as an utaite, also joining another utaite's live show for the first time that year. He was studying to become a childcare worker at the time, but was drawn to the interactive appeal of streaming and music and gradually considered music as a career.
From 2012 to 2016 he toured as the leader of Circle of Friends (COF) with Hashiyan, Kashitaro Ito, un:c and Kony. In 2012 he held his first solo live and released his first CD, Melodic note. On 16 July 2014 he made his major debut on King Records with the album Hello, World! In 2015 he released an album with Hashiyan as the unit melost.
2016 onward
In 2016 he released his second album, Hakoniwa Dramatic, themed around the "dramatic" moments in life, and took part in writing lyrics and composing some songs. Tie-ups with visual works, including the opening theme of the Digimon series he loved as a child, plus live shows and festivals, broadened his audience across age groups and among male listeners. His third album, Sorewa Kitto Koi Deshita., exploring romance from many angles, followed in June 2018; its white cover and blue rose carry special meaning. On 23 August 2018 he performed his one-man concert at the Nippon Budokan, and in late 2018 he moved to Universal Music.
In July 2019 he held a 10th anniversary live at Osaka-jo Hall, followed by a tour from December 2019 to January 2020 including Tokyo International Forum Hall A. A planned two-day concert at Makuhari Event Hall in April 2020 was disrupted by COVID-19; he instead performed on 29 and 30 August as a no-audience livestream, watched by about 50,000 people in total. On 30 December 2020 he held another livestream concert at Tokyo International Forum Hall A.
He continues to upload videos and stream regularly on NicoNico and YouTube, and collaborates with friends such as Mafumafu and Eve, including exchanging songs and compositions. He has performed overseas and broadened his work to voice acting, theater, staged readings and TV. In July 2021 he joined the professional gaming team Crazy Raccoon as a streamer, where he guides members on original songs and live segments of large events.
