Career
Early life and debut (2019–2020)
Asmi was interested in music from an early age, largely inspired by her older sister, who is four years her senior. In high school she managed the light music club, which had more than 100 members and won a prize in the chorus division of a national competition. After graduating she attended a vocational school, where she learned to play guitar. She started her music career in July 2019 and debuted on October 16, 2019, with the digital-only single "Osanpo" via SPACE SHOWER MUSIC. In 2020 she won the grand prize at Jūdai Hakusho, a talent search for teenage artists, and released her first album, Bond. On May 27, 2020, she also featured on "earth meal feat. asmi" from rapper Rin音's first album swipe sheep.
2021–2022
On May 19, 2021, Asmi joined Maisondes on "Yowanehaki feat. Wanuka, asmi," which topped Billboard JAPAN's TikTok HOT SONG Weekly Ranking for four consecutive weeks. She performed the song on the YouTube channel THE FIRST TAKE on August 25. On March 30, 2022, she released "PAKU," written and composed by meiyo, the creator of "Nani Yattemo Umaku Ikanai." She returned to THE FIRST TAKE on August 3 to perform it. That year she also sang her first anime song, "Ienai," composed by MIMiNARI, as the ending theme of season two of Rent-A-Girlfriend.
2023 onward
In January 2023 she teamed up with Maisondes again for "Ai Wana Muchuu feat. asmi, Sui," used as an opening theme for the anime Urusei Yatsura. On February 6 she launched her official fan club, "Panda Mamire," and held its first events, "Panda Secret Meeting: First Date Edition," on March 25–26 and June 18. From April 14 she performed, as asmi feat. Chinozo, "Dokimeki Diary," the first opening theme of Pokémon Horizons: The Series. On April 5, 2024, she announced on X that her label would become Echoes. On October 3 she launched her original apparel brand "MOCHA RIVER COLLEGE," and in December Shimamura Music released her signature guitar, the "NT-asmi." On October 2, 2025, during a fan-club-only livestream, she named her fan community "Sasamin."

She dislikes chocolate, yet her favorite film is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. She loves the panda plush toy at home and always brings it to her concerts; her fan club's name, "Panda Mamire," comes from it.
Musical style
Asmi's music falls under J-pop. She has centered her output on digital releases since her indie days, and collaborations with producers and other artists, TikTok-driven hits and anime theme songs form a major pillar of her work.
