About

Hiroomi Tosaka (ØMI)

Overview

Hiroomi Tosaka (ØMI, born March 12, 1987) is a Japanese singer and actor, and a vocalist of Sandaime J Soul Brothers from EXILE TRIBE. He launched his solo project on July 27, 2017 with the digital single "WASTED LOVE". He made his acting debut in the 2014 film Hot Road and won several newcomer awards. Since 2021 he has used the name ØMI for solo work, and from 2022 for all activities.

Career

Before debut

He played soccer through junior high and high school, then attended Kubota Barber Beauty College. He worked as a hairstylist for six months before quitting and working at an apparel shop. Seeing former hairstylist Takahiro chosen as an EXILE vocalist inspired him to seriously pursue singing.

Sandaime J Soul Brothers

In February 2010 he entered Vocal Battle Audition 2. On September 15, 2010, he won the final round alongside Ryuji Imaichi and became a vocalist of Sandaime J Soul Brothers. He first appeared publicly on September 27 at FANTASY Late Night Festival EXILE Soul, and debuted on November 10 with the single "Best Friend's Girl". In 2012 he took part in VBA Live Tour 2012 Vocal Battle Stage, and in 2014 in Vocal Battle Stage 2014. He was also in the sub-unit THE Sharehappi from 2015 to 2017, and in October 2015 published his first photo essay, Nobody Knows.

Acting and media

In 2014 he debuted in Hot Road, winning the Hochi Film Awards Best New Artist, the Japan Academy Film Prize Newcomer of the Year, the Mainichi Film Awards Sponichi Grand Prize Newcomer Award, and the Japan Movie Critics Awards New Actor Award. He later appeared in Road to High&Low (2016), the High&Low film series, and starred in Yuki no Hana (2019). He appeared on TV in EX-LOUNGE (2012-2013) and Terrace House (2013-2014), and was a Taipei tourism ambassador in 2019.

Solo career

After "WASTED LOVE" (July 27, 2017), he released "DIAMOND SUNSET" (October 13, 2017), "LUXE" (January 26, 2018), the album "FULL MOON" (August 8, 2018), "SUPERMOON" (April 10, 2019), "BLUE SAPPHIRE" (May 24, 2019, the Detective Conan: The Fist of Blue Sapphire version), "SUPERMOON -閃-" (July 12, 2019) and "OVERDOSE" (November 20, 2019). The album "Who Are You?" followed on January 8, 2020, alongside the LDH PERFECT YEAR 2020 SPECIAL SHOWCASE with Ryuji Imaichi. He also produced the solo-linked project CLAIR DE LUNE (2017-2020).

Recent activity

On February 20, 2021, he moved his solo project to CDL entertainment (LDH Records) and took the stage name ØMI. He started the CDL TOKYO brand in 2023, produced MOONCHILD (2022-2024), and in October 2023 became Creative Officer of LDH JAPAN. His photo essay LAST SCENE was published that October. In March 2026 he announced founding the company CDL entertainment as an LDH JAPAN group company, with himself as CEO.

Musical style

Rooted in J-pop, he combines his role as a group vocalist with concept-driven solo releases and hands-on production.
