Overview

MIMI (ミミ, born January 21) is a Japanese musician and Vocaloid producer (VocaloidP). Signature songs include "Hanataba" (ハナタバ), "Marshmary" (マシュマリー), "Kuu ni Naru", "Ima wa Iinda yo." (今はいいんだよ。) and "Science". MIMI is affiliated with KAMITSUBAKI STUDIO and is widely supported for piano-driven songs that carry delicate emotion.

Career

MIMI debuted as a VocaloidP in 2016 by posting "Lapis Lazuli" (ラピスラズリ) to Niconico. "Moment" (モーメント), posted in 2017, became the first of MIMI's songs to pass 100,000 plays on Niconico, earning Hall of Fame status. Works such as "Marshmary", "Ai no Sukima" (哀の隙間) and "Issē no de" (いっせーのーで) followed.

In 2021, "Marshmary" was included in the mobile game Project SEKAI COLORFUL STAGE! feat. Hatsune Miku. That year MIMI also wrote "Tada Koe Hitotsu" (ただ声一つ) for Rokudenashi, which has passed 200 million YouTube views; another song for the group, "Ai ga Tomoru" (愛が灯る), became a viral hit with over 50 million views.

In 2022, "Hanataba" became a major hit, reaching 25 million YouTube views and becoming one of MIMI's signature songs. "Ima wa Iinda yo." also drew wide attention, reaching 10 million views on YouTube, while a cover by kotoha reached 45 million. "Issē no de" appeared on SINSEKAI STUDIO SAMPLER Vol. 1 in December 2022.

In 2023, "Marshmary" passed 1 million plays on Niconico, MIMI's first song to do so (Legend status), and the first album, "Yoru Tsumugi" (よるつむぎ), was released. MIMI contributed "Iki wo suru dake" to KAMITSUBAKI LABEL SAMPLER Vol.1 (December 2023) and "Watashi mada BABY" to Vol.2 (December 2024).

In 2025 MIMI released the ballad-focused second album "Yo wo Dakishimeru Toki." (夜をだきしめる時。). A run of singles featuring vocal synthesizers and singers followed, including "余熱 (feat. 初音ミク)", "愛してランデブー (feat. 初音ミク)", "マジック・メイド (feat. 重音テト)", "海辺の電話ボックス (feat. 音街ウナ)" and "凪と藍空 (feat. マス)". In 2026 came "トリックハート (feat. 重音テト)", "柔く、ほどいて (feat. 初音ミク & 重音テト)" and "花びら哀歌 (feat. 重音テト)". MIMI also published "MIMI Selection", a 16-song score book, and announced "MIMI 10th Anniversary album" to mark ten years of activity. "Tenshi no Namida" (天使の涙) appears on KAMITSUBAKI LABEL SAMPLER Vol.3 (March 2026).

Musical style

Since the early days, MIMI's music has centered on piano sound. Moving between pop, ballad and dance-leaning styles, MIMI consistently delivers delicate, empathetic emotion through lyrics that stay close to the listener.
