THREEE

Overview

THREEE (Surii, すりぃ; born September 28, 1994) is a Japanese Vocaloid producer and singer-songwriter, also known as Three, Threee or 3. His notable songs include "Junkie Night Town Orchestra", "Telecaster B-Boy", "Ego Rock" and "Lavie". He is a member of the rock band Aooo and also writes and produces for other artists, including Ado.

Career

In 2017 he moved to Tokyo aiming to become a professional composer. On March 3, 2018, he began his career as a Vocaloid producer with "Kūchū Bunkai", choosing the date as wordplay on his name, since "Surii" sounds like "three" in Japanese. Early on he posted 60-second videos on Nico Nico Douga and YouTube, shaped by Twitter's 60-second limit at the time, and expanded them into longer versions based on audience response. He mainly used Hatsune Miku and Kagamine Rin/Len.

He posted "Junkie Night Town Orchestra" on December 20, 2019. "Telecaster B-Boy", posted September 12, 2020, passed 60 million YouTube views. In May 2020 he released the album Pandemic, originally self-published and sold through doujin mail order before receiving a nationwide release. As his songs grew more personal, he moved toward singing them himself, and he has released many self-covers.

In August 2023 he began performing as guitarist of the four-piece band Aooo, formed with Riko Ishino, Hikaru Yamamoto and tsumiki. On November 14, 2023 he released the album "グラデーション", followed by the single "Perfect World!!" on December 27.

In February 2024, "Telecaster B-Boy" was adapted into a novel by MF Bunko J, written by him as his first full-length work. In August it was adapted into a manga illustrated by Shitagokoro Poyo, serialized in Monthly Comic Gene from the September 2024 issue to the August 2025 issue. In 2024 he also released "ラヴィ", "ギルティ", "ケミカルダンス", "おべか" (with "すりぃ ver." and "Sped Up ver." editions) and "救ってくれない".

In February 2025, alongside the release of "超ピース", a one-man live show was announced, his first in a year. He later released "KISS&CANDY", "ドキドキ!" and "火鳥". In December 2025, "CATCH!!!" was announced as the opening theme of season 2 of the TV anime Vigilantes: My Hero Academia Illegals, airing from January 2026, his first original anime theme. "CATCH!!!" was released in January 2026, followed by "CATCH!!! -EP" in February.

He is also part of the Vocaloid producer group DREAMERS, with Ayase, syudou and tsumiki, whose members remix each other's songs.

Musical style

He chose to work anonymously because bands and songwriting contests made him feel pressure to meet others' expectations; he wanted freer emotional expression. His style is influenced by wowaka, notably in guitar phrasing and rhythmic patterns, and he cites Hidekazu Tanaka for combining complex chord progressions with pop melodies. He aims to build a signature sound by reusing the same instrument samples. He finds collaborators through a dedicated Twitter account that follows only illustrators and video creators, and prefers emerging artists.

Background

Inspired by the anime K-On!, he started music in high school, playing guitar in a band. He studied architecture in college before dropping out to pursue music full-time, and began making Vocaloid songs as a way to express himself alone.
