WHITE JAM
Overview
WHITE JAM is a Japanese three-member singer-songwriter group on the WHITE JAM Records label. The members are SHIROSE, GASHIMA and NIKKI, whose birth dates, hometowns and real names have not been made public. The group debuted in 2014 and is known for blending an R&B foundation with a distinctive pop sensibility. Their signature songs include "Usotsuki" and "Tattoo." They are also among Japan's leading songwriters, having written for artists such as Snow Man, SixTONES, Nissy, Da-iCE, Arashi and Seiko Matsuda. Their fans are called "JAMILY," and their fan club, "WHITE JAM HOUSE," operates through a website and an app.
Members
- SHIROSE (vocals): Possesses a range of more than four octaves, from E2 to F#6, and performs rare-for-a-male whistle voice in songs and live shows, with a clear, transparent tone. In January 2023, singer Kohmi Hirose praised him on social media as a "shocking vocalist she had discovered," which helped raise his profile among vocalists. Lyricist Junji Ishiwatari described SHIROSE's lyrical style as love songs with a strange resonance never heard before, yet whose meaning anyone grasps at first listen.
- GASHIMA: Has appeared on TV Asahi's Freestyle Dungeon and taken part in the BATTLE SUMMIT event, competing in MC battle tournaments.
- NIKKI
The three live together and write songs every day at their base, "WHITE JAM HOUSE."

Signature songs
- "Ikebukuro Sunshine": Became a hit mainly through TikTok and USEN requests, reaching No. 1 in domestic J-Pop rankings. It also went viral in China, hitting No. 3 on QQ Music's Japan chart.
- "Jishaku" (SHIROSE solo): The line "Sou boku ga S de anata ga N" exploded on TikTok, with many celebrities posting dance videos; it passed 300 million plays in just three weeks. It topped Shazam's viral chart and stayed in TikTok Japan's top 10 for seven straight weeks. "Shirose" was also nominated for Model Press's 2025 buzzword awards.
- "Usotsuki": A tearjerker that reached 24 million YouTube views and No. 1 on the iTunes overall chart, becoming a representative "song to cry to."
- "Tattoo": Its phrase "kiss my tattoo" became a trend, ranking in TikTok's Top 50 for eight consecutive weeks and drawing 12 million YouTube views.
Musical style
Built on R&B and hip-hop, WHITE JAM creates everything from ballads to up-tempo tracks. They excel at "crying songs" in ballads and "sadistic songs" in up-tempo numbers. They handle songwriting, live staging and overall production themselves. In sound design, they spent eight months perfecting a single bass tone, pursuing sharp ultra-low frequencies; the bass tone of "Tattoo" was developed with a researcher studying vibration and heartbeat. Their live shows feature theme-park-like staging that draws fans of all ages.
