In 2019, Ayase and ikura formed the group through a project on Monogatary.com aimed at converting novels into music. Their debut single "Yoru ni Kakeru" became a massive hit, topping the Billboard Japan Hot 100 chart for six consecutive weeks. The song received a diamond certification for streaming from the Recording Industry Association of Japan, and YOASOBI released several more hit singles following this success.

2022-2023: Global Expansion and the Success of "Idol"

In 2022, YOASOBI collaborated with four Naoki Prize-winning authors to release their first collection of short stories. In 2023, they released "Idol," the opening theme for the anime Oshi no Ko, which achieved notable international success. The song peaked at number seven on the Billboard Global 200 chart and topped the Japan Hot 100 chart for 22 non-consecutive weeks.

2024-2025: Global Stages and Continued Innovation

In 2024, YOASOBI expanded their global influence by participating in international music festivals like Coachella. They continued this momentum with tours in the United States and Europe, engaging directly with fans and broadening their musical reach.
